Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda Police was awarded prestigious ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ issued by the Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on Saturday. The award recognizes the exemplary contribution of Jharsuguda police in ensuring effective security management and enforcing election expenditure regulations during the simultaneous General Elections of 2024.

Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas received the honour from Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja at a state-level function held in celebration of National Voters’ Day. The recognition highlights the Jharsuguda Police’s innovative use of technology and proactive measures in creating a secure and efficient election environment.

Under the leadership of the SP, the Jharsuguda Police implemented advanced IT solutions, with the ‘Saarathi Application‘ at the forefront.

This robust mobile platform revolutionized election management by enabling real-time tracking of police teams, sector parties, and emergency vehicles. It ensured swift responses to incidents and significantly improved operational readiness through role-based training modules for police personnel.

An Integrated Command Centre further enhanced efficiency by functioning as a single-window system to address election-related grievances. The innovative approach reduced the average grievance redressal time to just 13 minutes, underscoring the system’s effectiveness.

The elections witnessed increased voter turnout, with 76.92% in the 06-Brajarajnagar Assembly Constituency (AC) and 82.74% in the 07-Jharsuguda AC during the General Elections of 2024. These figures reflect a significant rise of 5.6% and 3.5%, respectively, compared to previous bye-elections, despite the sweltering summer conditions.

The absence of poll-day violence was another milestone achieved through confidence-building initiatives by the police. Proactive preventive actions not only deterred anti-social elements but also instilled trust among voters.

Efficient resource allocation, real-time tracking, and meticulous planning optimized operations, reduced delays, and minimized costs.

The SP attributed the success to the seamless integration of technology, a well-coordinated strategy, and the dedication of the police force.

The innovative measures implemented by the Jharsuguda Police reflect a commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced public service delivery, ensuring a secure and transparent election process, and maintaining law and order in the district.
