Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda police have arrested 10 people, including two minors, in connection with the robbery and looting of pan masala trader Mukesh Buchwani’s shop and house on November 19.
The accused had planned the heist about two years ago and executed it with precision, looting the house for 3 hours at gunpoint and knife point.
The police have recovered cash worth Rs 37,27,000, gold ornaments worth Rs 66,56,000, and silver ornaments worth Rs 24,77,000 from the accused. Additionally, 3 country-made guns, 12 live bullets, 2 knives, two cars, 2 scooters, and a bike have been seized.
The arrested accused are Sanjay Singh, Akash alias Radhakant Kahnar, Ashok Kumar Panda, Jagabandhu Behera, Kahna Charan Swain, Sanat alias Anand Rai, Jeetu alias Jitendra Sahu, and Pinki alias Sushilla Meher. The police investigation revealed that the accused had planned the robbery meticulously, targeting Mukesh’s house and shop.
On the day of the incident, the masked robbers attacked Mukesh, cutting his hand, and forced their way into the house. They tied up the family members, including an old man and two women, and looted the house. The police registered a case and investigated the incident, leading to the arrest of the accused.
