Bhubaneswar: As the heat wave conditions continued to singe Odisha, Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.4°C before noon on Thursday, while Bhubaneswar the temperature at Bhubaneswar was second highest at 40.2°C.
The maximum temperatures recorded at eight other stations before noon today are as below:
- Chandbali: 39.6°C
- Keonjhar: 39.6°C
- Balasore: 38.6°C
- Sambalpur: 38.6°C
- Hirakund: 37.4°C
- Puri: 34°C
- Paradip: 33°C
- Gopalpur: 32.6 °C
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), similar conditions prevailed in most parts of the country owing to the absence of westerly winds. However, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by light rain in some areas of Odisha bringing some relief to the hassled citizens.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister preponed the summer vacation for Classes I to XII in the state in view of the severe summer. All schools will remain closed for summer vacation from April 21, a notification said.
