Jharsuguda: The headmaster of a government-run residential school in Jharsuguda district has been detained by police following allegations of sexual harassment of girl students.
The Banharpali police acted on an FIR lodged by the Welfare Extension Officer of Lakhanpur block, which accused the headmaster of harassing more than 30 girl students and making obscene gestures towards them.
Confirming the development, Banharpali police said the accused headmaster has been taken into custody for interrogation. “Our officials are probing the allegations and further investigation is underway,” the police stated.
The shocking incident has triggered outrage among locals, with many demanding strict action against the accused and stronger measures to ensure safety of children in residential schools.
