Bhubaneswar: The minimum night temperature in Jharsuguda dropped to 6.5°C today, marking the fourth-lowest December temperature in the past 15 years.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this is a significant dip, with the previous low being 5.6°C on December 7, 2021, which remains the lowest on record.
Other notable low temperatures in Jharsuguda include 5.8°C on December 8, 2020, and December 3, 2019, 6.4°C on December 29, 2014 and 6.8°C on December 31, 2018.
In 2024, the highest temperature recorded in Jharsuguda 2024 was 32.8°C on December 6, while the lowest temperature was 6.8°C on December 15. Similarly, in 2023, the highest temperature was 31.2°C on December 2, and the lowest temperature was 9.0°C on December 21.
In 2022, the temperature ranged from a high of 33.0°C on December 15 to a low of 8.2°C on December 19. In 2021, Jharsuguda recorded a highest temperature of 29.6°C on December 7 and a lowest temperature of 5.6°C on December 20.
