Jharsuguda SP Seeks Action Against Patrolling Vehicle Driver For ‘High-Handedness’

Jharsuguda: A day after a patrolling vehicle driver engaged with Brajrajnagar Police Station was found abusing and forcing a youth to do sit-ups for violating COVID-19 restrictions, SP Rahul PR has sought for his disengagement.

Reportedly, driver Joshi Tandi had meted the punishment to a youth on violation of the weekend shutdown in the district on Saturday. Tandi made him do sit-ups in presence of Brajrajnagar Police Station IIC and other onlookers. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media.

Jharsuguda SP today stated, “The matter relating to a driver engaged in Brajrajnagar Police Station showing high handedness and apparently enforcing Covid-19 restrictions has come to light yesterday. The driver is engaged by MCL for driving a patrolling vehicle provided by MCL to Brajrajnagar PS.”

He informed that a case has been registered against Tandi and action as per law will be taken against him. While a formal enquiry has been ordered into the matter, it has also been taken up with MCL to disengage Tandi immediately.
