Kendrapara: A youth accused of murdering a married woman in November 2015 over failed love affair was awarded life imprisonment by the Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge on Monday.
Reportedly, the accused Budha alias Sushil Rout of Tangataila village under Rajnagar police limits of Kendrapara district had developed intimacy with a married woman, whose husband was working as a plumber in Nepal.
Rout attempted to establish illicit relationship with the woman who was also mother of two. When her in-laws protested their relationship, Rout called her to a secluded spot near a pond on November 1 evening and hacked her to death with a sharp weapon.
On hearing her screams, villagers rushed to the spot and identified Rout when he was fleeing from the scene. He was later nabbed with a note in his pocket where he had confessed his crime and was going to commit suicide for the same.
He was arrested and booked under section 302 of IPC. Based on statements of the witnesses and all evidences, Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge Basudev Panda awarded him life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
