Bhubaneswar: A man from the Markatnagar area in Odisha’s Cuttack kidnapped and raped a woman for rejecting his marriage proposal. He, later, blackmailed the woman with an obscene video and forced her to succumb to his desire.
According to reports, after the marriage of Abinash Mishra to the woman was broken, he abducted her from the street and forcibly took her to a lodge. There, he allegedly beat up the woman and assaulted her sexually. The accused also recorded a video of their intimate moments.
Later, he forced the woman to marry him saying that a rejection would only result in making the video public. Whether or not the marriage has been solemnized is not confirmed.
The victim, however, approached the Markatnagar police and narrated her plight. The police registered a case on the basis of the woman’s complaint and arrested Abinash. The accused was produced in court and sent to jail custody after his bail plea was rejected, the police said.
