J&K Terror Attack: Nativities Bid Tearful Adieu To Brave Sons Of Soil
**Bhubaneswar:** A pall of gloom combined with patriotic fervour was witnessed across Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha on Saturday as the tricolour-bedecked mortal remains of the two CRPF troopers, killed in the Pulwama attack, reached their homes and last rites conducted with full state honours.
Two days after the terror attack on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, bodies of Manoj Kumar Behera of Ratanpur in Cuttack and Prasanna Kumar Sahu of Shikhar village in Jagatsinghpur district arrived in a special flight to Bhubaneswar, where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik alongwith various State and National ministers paid their rich tributes.
Later, the coffins carrying the mortal remains of Manoj and Prasanna were taken in a flower-bedecked military truck to their respective native places. Emotions poured out on the streets as thousands had gathered to have the last glimpse of the martyrs. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) contingents gave a guard of honour to the two martyrs ahead of their last rites. The martyrs were consigned to flames with full state honours.
The funeral ground resonated with chants of ‘Shaheed Jawan Amar Rahe’ and tears trickled down the cheeks. Inconsolable family members wore a brave face and gave a proud salute before bidding a final goodbye to their loved ones. 16-year-old Jagan lit the funeral pyre of his martyred father Prasanna Sahu in Shikhar and Manoj Behera’s younger brother lit his funeral pyre at Ratanpur.
The last rites of Manoj was also attended by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, and State Minister Pratap Jena and Sashi Behera, local MLAs, District Collectors, police and CRPF officials.
