Bhubaneswar: A joint inter-state operation by Odisha and Chhattisgarh Police and CRPF jawans has been launched in the border areas of Nuapada district of Odisha and Gariabandh district of Chhattisgarh.
On the night of January 19, intelligence inputs were received about the presence of a large number of Maoists hiding in the Kulari Ghat reserve forest of Chhattisgarh, just 5 km from the border of Nuapada district of Odisha. Accordingly, the security forces of both the states along with the Central Security Forces launched an anti-Naxal joint operation.
Exchange of fire is going is on since Monday morning, an Odisha Police press release stated. As the operation is being carried out by the police, more information in this regard will be provided soon.
