Bhubaneswar: Journalist of a regional Odia daily was attacked by some mischief mongers at Maharaja Talkies in Bhubaneswar today when he asked them to stop harassing public.

Reportedly, the journalist identified as Kapilendra Pradhan along with one of his colleagues was watching a movie at the talkies where some youths were creating a lot of disturbance for nearly an hour from the start of the show. They were also passing lewd comments on girls.

Unable to bear the nuisance, Pradhan asked them to leave the hall and let others watch the movie peacefully. Following which, the youths dragged him by his collar and thrashed him. They did not show any mercy even after he introduced himself.

In the meantime, Pradhan managed to call one of his colleagues to inform police about the incident. It was after police arrived, he was rescued from the clutches of the youths.

Later, Pradhan lodged an FIR at the Saheed Nagar police station stating he was thrashed and abused by some youths who are students of a premier institute of Odisha. He also alleged that the youths have snatched his gold chain and ID-Card.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Pradhan said that even after lodging the FIR, police has not taken any action against the accused youths.
