Bhubaneswar: Several working journalists today took to the streets in Bhubaneswar in protest against the former Minister Raghunandan Das who is in the eye of the storm for allegedly releasing his dogs to a woman journalist.
The journalists staged protests in front of the Jaydev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar demanding strict action against the former Information and Public Relation Minister.
The protesting scribes questioned the police silence on the matter even as three days have passed since the incident.
Several senior journalists who attended the protest rally expressed dissatisfaction over the conduct of a former minister.
Senior journalist Prasanna Mohanty said that it is a shameful act as a former minister misbehaved with the lady scribe. What is more unfortunate is that the former minister who committed such an act had held the Department of Information and Public Relations. The leader has not yet tender apology rather he argued in favour of what he has done. The protest will continue until police take action, Mohanty said.
He also demanded the chief minister to look into the matter.
On Tuesday, BJD leader and former minister Raghunandan Das allegedly let his dogs loose on a woman journalist of a local TV channel. The BJD leader committed the act while the scribe had gone to his official residence to cover the demolition of an additional structure in the BJD organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das’ residence in the neighbouring premise.
