Puri: The reporter of a vernacular daily was assaulted by miscreants for protesting misbehaviour with tourists here on Sunday. The victim, Bikram Acharya has filed a complaint with Sea Beach police following which five persons were detained.
According to reports, a fast food stall owner was misbehaving with a group of tourists. On witnessing the fiasco, Acharya tried to intervene and pacify the situation. However, the stall owner and a couple of his associates assaulted the journalists.
Acharya was further beaten while he was trying to collect information from the tourists about the incident. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this connection and investigating further.
