Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda released the party’s election manifesto for Odisha on Sunday and called the people to unseat the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government for the interest of the state. Slamming the BJD government, he accused that it had failed in all spheres of governance.
Releasing the ‘Sankalp Patra’, the BJP manifesto for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Odisha, Nadda alleged that promises made by the BJD over the years are yet to be fulfilled.
He alleged that the Naveen Patnaik government has not only failed to provide irrigation water to the farmers, but the income of farmers in Odisha is among the lowest in the country. The BJP chief claimed that the education system in Odisha has completely broken down due to BJD government’s apathy, as school and university education in Odisha in a dire state for want of teachers and infrastructure.
Even violence against women is increasing in the state, he said, adding, the BJD leaders are involved in these crimes against women.
Nadda blasted the Naveen Patnaik government for its reluctance to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and said that millions of people in the state were deprived of the facility. Similarly, the BJD government did not allow proper implementation of the PMAY and many poor people have been deprived of housing facilities.
The BJP president listed the major promises made in the manifesto taking into consideration the needs of people belonging to various categories – mainly farmers, women, youths and the poor. He described the ‘Sankalp Patra’ as a very serious document and said, “We received lakhs of suggestions and they were compiled as Sankalp Patra.”
