Bolangir: Tension mounted at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital here on Thursday following an alleged murderous assault on a junior doctor by miscreants.
The injured junior doctor (House Surgeon) has been identified as Dr Biswaranjan Sahu. Dr Sahu was assaulted by two unidentified miscreants on Laltikra road while he was returning to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College after finishing his outdoor duty at the hospital in the afternoon.
Students of Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital sat on a dharna in front of the hospital gate to protest against the attack on the doctor.
The medicos raising question of their security, threatened to stop work until the attackers are nabbed and stringent action is taken against them.
On being informed about the incident, Bolangir Collector and SP reached the Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital and tried to pacify the agitating medicos. However, the medicos had remained adamant till the time of filing of this report.
On the other hand, police have started an investigation into the matter, while launching a manhunt for the attackers.
