Jr Engineer, Associate Apprehended For Taking Bribe In Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Pradesh Prasad Nayak, Jr Engineer (JE) of TPSODL, along with Bhanjakishor Swain, a private person, while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the owner of a bricks factory in Malkangiri district.

According to an official press release, the duo was caught red-handed near the main gate of the TPSODL office while demanding and receiving the bribe in exchange for providing an electricity connection to the factory. The entire amount was immediately recovered by the Vigilance team.

Following the operation, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Nayak in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) investigation.

Koraput Vigilance Police Station has registered Case No. 01/2026 under Section 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the accused.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates are expected.
