**Bhubaneswar: ** In place of Posco, JSW is now keen on establishing mega steel plant on the land lying idle in Jagatsinghpur district which was earlier acquired and allotted to Posco and later returned to Odisha Government as the South Korean steel behemoth has already withdrawn from the first ever FDI project years ago amid the vehement local protests and other legal labyrinths.
Talking to media, Odisha Industries Minister Ananta Das informed, “As Posco has already withdrawn from Odisha, 2,900 acres out of the acquired land later returned is to be allotted to JSW for setting up mega steel plant there.”
He added, “JSW is yet to fix the date for commencement of the project and yet to intimate the State Government about it. Perhaps, it is under process at JSW’s end.”
“JSW has been intimated to deposit money for the required land. After deposit of money, the land will be given in its favour,” he made it clear.
Also the Odisha Industries Minister informed, “Even detailed project report (DPR) has not been submitted as it is too underway at JSW end.”
Notably, the land returned by Posco has been reacquired by Odisha Government’s IDCO and kept in its land bank for future industrial purpose.
