Bhubaneswar: The adjournment motion moved by the Opposition on law and order situation in the State was discussed in the Assembly today and Minister of State (MoS) for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra placed his statement.
Talking to media outside the House, the Minister said, “Today thorough discussion was held in the House. Whatever NHRC mandate is there, Odisha Police is obeying it in true letter and spirit.”
He informed, “Sundargarh district’s Birmitrapur PS custodial death allegeation will be probed into by Panposh JFMC while the Puri case will be probed by the SDJM.”
“Odisha is a peace-loving State. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the naxal violence has reduced. Five districts have been now free from LWE impact. Around 32 naxalites have been neutralized while 20 have surrendered,” stated he, adding, “Motor vehicle incidents have gone down.”
