Angul: A junior assistant in the accounts department of the Chief District Medical Officer’s office in Angul has been suspended for alleged financial irregularities. Subrata Behera, who has been working in the district health department since 2007, was suspended on Tuesday after evidence of money misappropriation was found in a government cheque book.
According to CDMO, Dr. Madan Mohan Pradhan, a four-member team from the Accountant General and State Finance Department inspected the offices of the Angul CDMO and ADMO (Medical) and found discrepancies in the accounts. It is alleged that Behera misappropriated crores of rupees from employee salaries and distributed salaries arbitrarily.
The investigation revealed that Behera had been manipulating funds, drawing attention to his suspicious transactions. The Accountant General’s office has taken action against the financial irregularities, and the Health Department team is continuing its audit.
