Bhubaneswar: Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad was sworn in as a judge of the Orissa High Court at a ceremony held on the Court premises on Monday. With his joining, the total number of judges in the Orissa High Court will reach 19.
Chief Justice Harish Tandon administered the oath to Justice Shripad during the ceremony, which took place at 10 am.
Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, recommended the transfer of Shripad along with six other judges in its meetings held on April 15 and 19. The Central Government had approved these recommendations on May 2.
Shripad Dixit, born on July 20, 1964, has a distinguished judicial career. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on February 14, 2018, and later became a Permanent Judge on January 7, 2020. Before his elevation to the judiciary, Justice Dixit served as the Additional Solicitor General for the Karnataka High Court.
