Bhubaneswar: Justice Harish took oath as the 35th Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on Wednesday. Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office at a ceremony on the Orissa High Court premises.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by judges of the High Court, members of the Bar Association, and other dignitaries.
This development comes after the Supreme Court collegium recommended Justice Tandon’s appointment as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on March 6.
Before the oath-taking ceremony, Justice Tandon and his wife visited the Puri Jagannath temple, where they were accorded a warm welcome by District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agrawal and officials of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration. The couple offered prayers to Lord Jagannath and other deities.
Justice Tandon and his wife were felicitated with a traditional Khandua Pata by the district administration and SJTA officials.
Prior to his appointment at Orissa High Court, Justice Tandon practised law in the Calcutta High Court, where he was elevated as a judge on April 13, 2010. He graduated in law from Calcutta University in 1983 and enrolled as an advocate in 1989.
