Bhubaneswar : As the 33rd Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, Justice Subhasis Talapatra took his oath of office on Monday. During a ceremony on the grounds of the Orissa High Court, Governor of Odisha Professor Ganeshi Lal swore in the new chief justice.
As the new chief justice of the Orissa High Court, Justice Talapatra replaced Justice S Muralidhar in that position.
Born on October 4, 1961 at Udaipur, Tripura, Justice Talapatra did his graduation in Arts and Law from University of Calcutta. On September 12, 1990, he registered with the bar associations of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.
He mostly worked at the Gauhati High Court’s Agartala Bench, where he appeared in numerous civil, criminal, and constitutional cases. He received the title of Senior Advocate in December.
Recently, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Justice Talapatra, judge of the Orissa High Court, for the appointment as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.
