Jyoti Prakash’s Family Alleges Govt Neglects Him Who Tried To Save Soumyashree

Bhubaneswar: Jyoti Prakash Biswal, the brave student of FM College who risked his life to save Soumyashree Bisi when she attempted to immolate herself, is currently fighting for his own life at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Despite his selfless act, Jyoti’s family alleges that the government has not extended any support or reached out to them.

Jyoti’s father expressed concern, saying, “My son’s hands and face are badly burned. We are currently at the hospital with him, and we are hoping for government support.”

Meanwhile, Dr Bibhuti Nayak, the head of the plastic surgery department, stated that Jyoti’s condition is stable. His hands, face, and lungs are affected by the burns. We expect him to recover within a week, but grafting may be necessary if required.”

However, the state government has been criticised for ignoring Jyoti’s plight, despite his bravery in trying to save Soumyashree’s life.

Notably, Soumyashree had set herself on fire on July 12 inside the college campus, reportedly over inaction on her complaint against the Head of the Department (HoD), Samir Kumar Sahu. She succumbed to over 90-95% burn injuries late Monday night at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
