Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi SP Saravana Vivek M today met and interacted with the wife of martyred journalist Rohit Biswal of Mohangiri at their house in Mohangiri and handed over a cheque of Rs 13 lakh as the compensation amount announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to her.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced Rs 13 lakh compensation to be paid to the family of journalist Rohit Biswal, who was killed in a landmine blast planted by Maoists in Madanpur Rampur of Kalahandi district on February 5.
While Rs 9 lakh out of the compensation amount was paid by the State Police, Rs 4 lakh was paid from the Journalists’ Welfare Fund.
Biswal who was on assignment to report surfacing of Maoist posters near Dulen Chhak on Karlakhunta-Manikera road was killed on the spot in a landmine blast.
