Bhubaneswar: As promised by Naveen Patnaik, over 25 lakh farmers will get KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) assistance soon after the new BJD Government is sworn in on May 29.
During election campaign in April, Patnaik had assured, “Farmers have been placed No 1 in our agenda. 40 lakh farmers have already been benefitted under KALIA Yojana. List has been prepared for 25 lakh more beneficiaries. These farmers will be given financial assistance of Rs 10,000 for two installments at one go, on the very first day of our government formation.”
It is notable to mention here that these 25 lakh farmers had not received their share yet as the Model Code of Conduct had come into force in the state for elections.
Soon after the swearing-in ceremony of the BJD Government concludes at Exhibition Ground here on May 29, Patnaik will disburse the amount to the beneficiaries at a special programme at the State Secretariat. Chief Secretary AP Padhi has reviewed the preparations for the same.
Reports stated that 6-7 lakh farmers will receive the financial assistance on the same day through Direct Benefit Transfer, while other farmers will get the amount within the next two days. Agriculture and Cooperation Departments have initiated necessary arrangements for the entire process.
