Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Hospital was dropped from the Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) list after the hopsital’s authorities allegedly misbehaved with MLA Mohan Majhi and detained a dead body over unpaid bills.
A four-member team had been constituted to probe into the matter and submitted a report. Accordingly, the Hospital was dropped from the list, informed Health Minister Naba Das.
“It is ordered that the Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) empanelment status of Kalinga Hospital is hereby suspended with effect from 19.07.2019,” a notification issued by Health Department stated.
Along with this, all private hospitals enlisted under OSTF have been warned to religiously observe the guidelines or face wrath.
It is notable to mention here that a youth identified as Sachin had died while undergoing treatment at the hospital in June. Though all bills had been paid, the hospital had detained Sachin’s body demanding more money. When MLA Majhi requested the DGM of Kalinga Hospital to release the body and help out Sachin’s family, he was insulted. Following this, a probe had been ordered into the matter.
