Dhenkanal: A journalist of a regional television channel Dusmanta Mohanty died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on national highway no. 53 in front of Bhuban police station chowk today. He was around 30 years old.
According to reports, Mohanty who was working for Kalinga TV as a reporter for Kamakshyanagar was on his way to gather news on a bike to Bhuban block office where the Collector was scheduled to hold a public grievance hearing today.
He was hit by an unidentified vehicle on national highway 53 in front of Bhuban police station chowk.
He was rescued by Bhuban police in critical condition from the spot and rushed to the Government Hospital at Bhuban in a police van.
As Mohanty’s health condition deteriorated, he was shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
As news of Mohanty’s death spread, a pall of gloom descended among the journalist fraternity in Dhenkanal district.
