Bhubaneswar: In a significant recognition of quality healthcare delivery, the Kalpana Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Bhubaneswar has been awarded the prestigious National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The health centre, run by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), secured an impressive score of 97.61% during the national-level assessment conducted on July 11 and 12. The evaluation covered key parameters such as preventive and curative healthcare, patient-centric service delivery, diagnostic facilities, neonatal and child care, immunization, hygiene, infrastructure, waste management, and outreach activities.
The NQAS certification reflects adherence to the highest public health standards and focuses on six critical dimensions of healthcare quality—safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency, and equity.
“This achievement highlights our commitment to delivering quality care to the community,” said Dr. Nilamani Senapati, Additional District Urban Public Health Officer. “We aim to bring more such units under the NQAS framework and sincerely thank the Hon’ble Mayor and Commissioner of BMC for their active cooperation.”
With this recognition, Kalpana becomes the eighth UPHC in Bhubaneswar to receive NQAS certification, joining the ranks of IRC Village, Ghatikia, Pokhariput, Unit-3, Satya Nagar, Niladri Vihar, and Unit-9.
A minimum score of 70% is required to qualify for the NQAS certification, and certified facilities must maintain these standards through periodic assessments to retain the recognition.
