Bhubaneswar: The railway track repair work near Choudwar, where the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derailed on Sunday, has been completed. The railway authorities have announced that train services will resume soon.
According to railway sources, the repair work was completed by 7:15 am today, and instructions have been issued to resume train services on this route soon.
“In a swift and coordinated effort, railway teams have successfully restored the track at the accident site at 07:15 hrs. The dedicated Railway workforce worked tirelessly to ensure minimal disruption in train service and quick resumption of train operations”, read the release issued by East Coast Railway.
Notably, the derailment of the Kamakhya Express claimed one life and left 11 persons injured. Emergency services, including Fire Services personnel and NDRF teams, rushed to the spot to launch rescue operations. Senior railway officials, including the East Coast Railway GM and Khurdha division DRM, also reached the site to assess the situation.
Soon after the mishap, the railway authorities launched an investigation into the incident and began repair work on the damaged track immediately.
With the completion of the repair work, train services are expected to return to normal soon, bringing relief to passengers who have been affected by the disruption.
