Bhubaneswar/Kandhamal: Christmas is being celebrated across Odisha with traditional reverence and pomp. Not only Christians but people of all communities and religions are immersed in the festive spirit.
Midnight and morning mass were held in churches across the state with people lighting candles and offering their prayers to Lord Jesus on his birth.
The Roman Catholic Church in Phulbani in Odisha’s Kandhamal district celebrated Christmas amid tight security. The elaborate security arrangements made by the district authorities failed to dampen the spirit of the people.
And security personnel have been appointed in sensitive areas and sensitive churches! In the entire district, 42 platoon police, more than 50 police officers, 18 Executive Magistrates have been appointed and 10 checkpoints have been made!
Forty-two platoons of police have been deployed in all the sensitive areas of Kandhamal district. The force is being led by more than 50 police officers and 18 executive magistrates. Altogether 10 checkpoints have been set up at various places in the district.
Meanwhile, armed policemen conducted flag marches in Baliguda and Barakhamba ahead of the Christmas festivities.
