**Bhubaneswar:** Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday ordered for an SIT probe under HRPC into the Kandhamal incident.
Reviewing the Kandhamal incident with the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP and the Director Intelligence, the Chief Minister directed a thorough and impartial probe into the incident by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the State Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) to be monitored and supervised by an officer of the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) of Police.
“I have also directed DGP to have a detailed review and apply required correctives so that such incident is not repeated in future in anti-naxalite operations,” the CM said.
“If anyone found of negligent conduct after probe, we shall take stringent action,” the CM added.
Addressing media soon after the review meeting, the CM also said, “The Kandhamal issue is most unfortunate incident and my Government has taken it very seriously. My Government is always concerned for the ST, SC and the deprived section of the society”.
