Bhubaneswar: Phiringia police arrested a man on charges of cheating on a young girl after establishing a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Priyaranjan Digal of Pabingia village, coming under Phiringia police station limits of Kandhamal district.
Priyaranjan, who runs an online service centre in the Phiringia market, met a young girl at his shop for the first time, after which the love angle between both sprouted.
After dating each other for a while, the relationship between both intensified, leading to a physical relationship.
As per sources, Priyaranjan on the pretext of marrying the girl, initiated a physical relationship with her, leading to an unwanted pregnancy.
After the girl informed him about the pregnancy, forcing him to marry her. He tactfully avoided the situation by aborting her pregnancy with the help of oral medication, after which he went absconding.
The victim girl after being unable to trace her absconding lover, filed a written complaint at Phiringia police station, after which the police arrested Priyaranjan.
Further investigation into the matter is going on.
