Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Prasanna Samantaray, Kantapara Tahsiladar, for amassing disproportionate assets worth crores.
Samantaray, an OAS officer, was taken into custody today and will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
According to officials, searches conducted on Samantaray’s properties revealed a staggering amount of unexplained wealth, including two multi-storeyed buildings and seven high-value plots in Bhubaneswar, as well as Rs 2.17 lakh in cash. The assets, which are suspected to be proceeds of corruption, are currently under investigation.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.12/2026) has been registered against Samantaray under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities scrutinizing his financial transactions and assets.
