Puri: The ‘Kartik Brata’ programme for ‘habisialis’ (elderly widow devotees who observe Kartik Brata at Sri Jagannath temple in Puri during the holy Hindu month of Kartik) begins from today.
The programme is organised this year after a gap of two years. It was suspended on account of the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
This year Puri district administration has set up five camps for habisialis. Around 2935 registered habisialis have been accommodated in these camps.
