Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the holy Kartik month, the registration process for Habisyali has commenced in Puri from today.

According to reports, the online registration process will start from September 19. Eligible widows and married women can apply through the website (https/edistrict.odisha.gov.in) to avail accommodation service.

Approximately 2,500 Habisyali are expected to participate in the event. They will be accommodated in Brundabati Niwas, Bagala Dharmasala, Puri Municipality Kalyan Mandap and Akshaya Patra building, said sources.

The government, meanwhile, has made arrangements for their stay, Jagannath darshan, and prasad seva during the one-month-long Kartik Brata.

It is learnt that to be eligible, widows should be up to 70 years old, while married women should be between 50 and 70 years old. Applicants should also be physically and mentally fit. Priority will be given to new applicants who have not participated in the Habisyali camp before. Only those who register online will be allowed to participate in the Habisyali camp.

The government will provide free mahaprasad to the Habisyali throughout the month. With these arrangements in place, the stage is set for a spiritual and fulfilling experience for the Habisyali during the Kartik Brata.
