Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara MP and popular Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mohanty joined the BJP at the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi.
The saffron party’s senior leader Vinod Tawde welcomed Mohanty into the saffron fold.
Two days back the popular cine star had resigned from the Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD’s) primary membership.
The Kendrapara MP had sent his resignation to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
Mohanty joined the BJD on 27th April 2013. In 2014 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a BJD ticket. He was the youngest Rajya Sabha member.
In 2019 Mohanty was fielded from the Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat by the BJD against Baijayant Panda of the BJP. He defeated Panda and got elected to the Lok Sabha.
However, over the last few years, he was allegedly sidelined by the BJD.
