Bhubaneswar: A total of 10,405 students have dropped out of school in Keonjhar district, according to a survey. Of these, 455 students were from Champua block alone, according to Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gond.
Gond’s reply came in response to a query raised by MLA Sanatan Mahakud on number of dropout students in his constituency.
The Minister also informed the Assembly that the district has 2,523 schools being run under the Education Department with enrolment of 2,50,422 students. The government has re-enrolled 4,177 drop-out students in various schools. The government is bearing all expenses of students through various schemes, aiming to bring drop-outs back to mainstream education
