Keonjhar: In a grim turn of events that has shaken the quiet village of Hatimara Chak under Bamebari police limits in Keonjhar district, a young woman lost her life allegedly at the hands of her husband following a domestic altercation.
According to reports, the incident took place late on Wednesday night when 23-year-old Kitamai Munda was brutally assaulted by her husband, Sunil Munda, after an argument escalated between the two.
Sunil allegedly in a fit of rage, grabbed a wooden stick and began beating his wife mercilessly, leaving her seriously injured and drenched in blood.
Instead of seeking medical help, Sunil reportedly carried Kitamai inside their home and laid her on the floor, where she lay battling for life. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries a short while later.
Realizing what had transpired, Sunil on Thursday morning reportedly decided to surrender and was on his way to Bamebari police station. However, police had already been alerted by locals and intercepted him en route. He was immediately taken into custody and brought back to the crime scene for further investigation.
A scientific team and Barbil SDPO Debendra Nath Pingua accompanied the Bamebari police to the location, where an inquiry is underway to uncover the full sequence of events.
