Bhubaneswar: Acting on allegations of amassing huge disproportionate assets by Satya Prakash Swain, former superintendent of Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, and superintendent of Keonjhar District Jail, Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday launched simultaneous house searches at seven locations linked to the accused.
According to a press communiqué issued by the Vigilance department, the searches are being conducted by 12 DSPs, 11 Inspectors SI/ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, at seven places in Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, and Keonjhar.
The searches are being conducted at the following places:
- The residential house of Swain at LB 104 on Plot 912, khata 1072, Govindprasad, Laxmisagar in Bhubaneswar.
- The parental of house of Swain at Plot B-53, Siddhi Vihar, Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar.
- The native village of Swain at Narsinghpur, Dhusuri in Bhadrak.
- The government quarters occupied by Swain at Qr No D-1, Special Jail Colony, Jharpada, Laxmisagar in Bhubaneswar.
- Government quarters of Jail Superintendent at Keonjhar inside the jail campus.
- Office room of Swain, Superintendent of Jail, Keonjhar.
- House of his relative at EB-355, Jharpara, Laxmisagar in Bhubaneswar.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Sri Swain and his family members:
- One four-storied residential building over plot at LB No-104 with area approx. 3300 sqft worth about Rs 1.5 crore at Jharpada in Bhubaneswar.
- Four high-value homestead plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Bolangir, and Dhenkanal.
- Another plot No- 443 at Sagarpada in Bolangir town.
- One plot vide No-443 at Mahisapata in Dhenkanal.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above building/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
- Bank, insurance and postal deposits and other investments etc. are being ascertained.
- One four-wheeler and one two-wheeler.
The searches are in progress and a detailed report is awaited.
