Bhubaneswar: Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, destroying large-scale illicit cultivation of contraband poppy plants on the Sona River banks near Mankad Hutting, Mauza Bhuiya Roida under Rugudi and Joda police stations in Keonjhar district.
The operation led by SP covered approximately two acres of land, with an estimated value of Rs 6-7 crore.
The destruction was carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrates, following due legal procedure under the NDPS Act, 1985. Two cases have been registered at Rugudi and Joda Police Station and further action is underway to identify and apprehend those involved.
The well-coordinated operation witnessed excellent teamwork by SDPO Barbil, IIC Barbil PS, IIC Joda PS, and staff of Barbil, Joda & Rugudi Police Stations.
Keonjhar Police has vowed to maintain zero tolerance against drug cultivation and peddling, committing to eradicate narcotics and protect society.
