Bhubaneswar: Three women from Patna block in Keonjhar district have emerged as shining examples of self-reliance, thanks to the Odisha government’s flagship scheme, the ‘Subhadra Yojana,’ aimed at empowering women.
Pratima Mahanta, Jayanti Mahanta, and Mamina Mahanta have successfully utilized the financial assistance provided under the scheme to start ventures in agriculture and small businesses, thereby achieving financial independence.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Odisha praised their achievements on social media platform X, highlighting how the scheme has opened new avenues for women’s employment in the region.

“The support from ‘Subhadra’ has instilled new confidence in these women and inspired many others to pursue self-employment,” the CMO post stated.
Beneficiaries are currently engaged in activities such as farming, tailoring, and cultivation of crops including potatoes, bananas, pumpkins, and watermelons. They report that the financial aid from the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ has been instrumental in improving their livelihoods.
This success story stands as a model for women across Odisha, encouraging wider participation in government schemes for socio-economic upliftment.
