Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police on Tuesday arrested three members of a snatchers’ gang including a juvenile and seized four gold chains, one motorcycle and three mobile phones from their possession.
The accused persons have been identified as Suresh Naik alias Ranga, P Ramulu Rao and the other is a child in conflict with law.
According to the police, the accused persons were involved in several cases of mobile phone and gold chain snatching. They used to hire motorcycles for committing the crime and thus hoodwink the police.
On last Saturday the gang looted a gold chain from a couple on motorcycle near Baramunda over bridge. Later on the same day the gang looted a gold chain from another person near Ram Mandir and then snatched a mobile phone from a person in front of BJB College.
Upon receipt of complaints on the incidents, police examined CCTV footages and came to know that the gang was using hired motorcycles for committing the crime. Following investigation police succeeded in arresting the three including the juvenile.
