Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance personnel arrested Sheikh Habibul Rehman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Khandapada police station in Nayagarh district while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 3.000 from a complainant as a part of a monthly installment to allow him to carry out his business.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Rehman and seized. Earlier, he had taken a bribe Rs 15,000 from the complainant and was regularly harassing the complainant for more money.
A case has been registered In this connection at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. An investigation into the case is in progress against the accused and a detailed report is awaited.
