Jajpur: As many as six youths have lost their lives during a pre-Holi celebration on the banks of Kharasrota river at Mangala Ghat near Badasuanara in the district.
The body of the sixth deceased was recovered from the river on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Biswajit Jena (Bablu).
While bodies of five youth were recovered from the river on Friday, another person was rescued in critical condition. He was later rushed to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The body of Bablu was recovered by ODRAF and Fire Service personnel today morning. According to reports, the youths were taking a bath in the river on Friday afternoon after celebrating Holi.
The youths spotted one of their friends drowning. In a bid to save him, all of them made an attempt, but were swept away in the strong current, the police said.
