Khurda: Soon after Bharatiya Janata Party’s Khurda Mandal President Manguli Jena was shot dead last night, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condemned the killing and urged the Election Commission today to look into the matter and take strict action.

The supremo of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) took to Twitter and wrote, “Democracy has no place for violence. I strongly condemn the heinous murder that has taken place in Khurda last night. I convey my deepest sympathy to the family members of the deceased.”

“I urge the Election Commission to look into the matter with utmost priority and direct the cops to take strict action in order to prevent such incidents from happening again,” he concluded.

It is notable to mention here that BJP’s Khurda Mandal President and former Badapokharia Sarpanch Manguli Jena was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified miscreant near Nabina Bag area late last night. Following this, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan apprised the State Police DG about the matter and on the other hand, the saffron party called for Khurda bandh today from 8 am to 2 pm.
