Bhubaneswar: The rape and murder of a 5-year-old at Mundia Sahi in Jatni late last night is a heinous crime and definitely a red flag case said Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty on Saturday.
Mohanty informed that, on requisition of police, the DNA specialist has conducted DNA profiling of the victim and the crime spot. Besides, scientific evidences have also been collected by the officials of the district forensic laboratory.
He assured to expedite investigation in the case and see that the accused is awarded an extreme punishment. An investigation in that manner is ongoing under the supervision of an Additional DCP.
Considering the heinous nature of the crime, an Additional CP has been asked to monitor the case and it is also being monitored from the Commissioner office, said Mohanty.
Reportedly, body of the minor girl had been recovered from house of her perpetrator last night after which locals had brutally thrashed him and handed him over to police. The accused identified as Ananda had been admitted at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.
