Khurda: The brave and united residents of Chotipalanga village under the Town Police Station here foiled a dacoity bid by locking the seven miscreants inside a fish godown when the gang was looting there on Thursday night.

Later, the police was informed and the seven goons were handed over.

Being informed, the Town Police Station personnel rushed there with one platoon of force and arrested the criminals.

However, two more miscreants managed to flee the spot on two bikes, the villagers claimed.

Villagers further claimed that nine miscreants had come to the village on four bikes.

As per reports, two bikes, sharp weapons and cell phones have been seized from their possession.

Fortunately, the villagers did not resort to any sort of mob justice as had been the deplorable act in Nayagarh district on Wednesday afternoon when three bank robbers were mercilessly beaten by the irate villagers following which two died on the spot and one was admitted to hospital by the police in a critical condition.
