Balangir: The body of a minor boy who was allegedly abducted from Sirabhatapada in Titlagarh of Balangir district on April 23 was recovered from Siker forest on Wednesday.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Mohan Kumbhar, son of Dilip Kumbhar of Sirabhatapada had gone to attend his tuitions on Saturday evening but had not returned home.
Upon inquiry, his family members found that he had not reached the tuition classes that evening. They suspected the involvement of his cousin Sumit Kumbhar who had also visited their house on the same day and had left after Mohan went for tuition.
Based on the complaint of Mohan’s family members, police detained Sumit and during interrogation, he confessed to kidnapping and murdering Mohan.
On that evening, when Mohan was on the way to his tuition classes, Sumit waylaid him. He later sent a message to his parents on Whatsapp demanding Rs 10 lakh ransom and threatened to kill Mohan if the ransom was not paid.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
