Bhubaneswar: A 5-year-old girl who had been kidnapped from Sikharchandi slum five days back was rescued near Chandrasekharpur area and the accused was apprehended by Infocity Police.
Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash informed that the accused is a native of Jatni but was working as a painter in Bhubaneswar. He used to visit the slum often and was known to some people there.
After kidnapping the girl he had kept her with him. Medical examination of the girl revealed that she is fully healthy. The intention behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. The probe is underway to find if the accused has previous antecedents.
