Deogarh: One Suman Behera, son of Padmacharan Behera of Aulṛi village under Kundeigola police limits in Odisha’s Deogarh district, who is accused of abducting a minor girl escaped from police custody in front of the Deogarh Special Sub-jail on Sunday.
According to reports, 22-year-old Suman was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl in his neighbourhood. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the minor girl’s family members at the Kundeigola police station.
Suman was produced before a local court, where his bail petition was rejected. Subsequently, the accused was remanded to judicial custody. As the cops escorting the accused were taking him to the jail he pushed them and managed to flee the spot.
The accompanying police personnel tried hard but could not trace his whereabouts. A written complaint has been filed by the police at Deogarh Model police station and a case has been registered under Sections 353, 323, and 224 IPC.
Currently, raids are being conducted at various places by a police team formed to nab the accused.
